So you're browsing through NetFlix, looking for a fun movie that you haven't seen yet and something catches your eye.
It's got a half naked woman on the cover, perhaps flanked by some kind of freak brandishing a shiny murderous weapon or a ridiculous-looking demonic presence. The font for the goofy title is huge and stylized. There's a tag-line that's either positively stupid, or far too clever. You don't recognize any actors' names. The "plot" synopsis is as ludicrous as the title. You rent it, watch it, and despite it being horrible, love it.
Welcome friend, you belong here.
Oh, this hasn't happened to you? Keep reading, because what we lovingly call cheeze is the binding element (pun intended) of all movies, regardless of budget or behind-the-scenes expertise. Here The Crying Game and Independence Day are as likely to be applauded for foolishness as Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama.
Face it - movies are filled with absurdity. Characters do head-scratching, moronic things. Plots take titanic leaps of logic. And the acting? For every cardboard performance littering the cinematic landscape, there are many more shockingly overwrought examples of thespians acting from their spleen. It has nothing to do with money or the talent involved. Most movies are just inherently foolish.
That said… we love them all. Every phantasmagoric incident, baffling plot-twist, fragile plywood set, gratuitous topless nude shot, chewed piece of scenery, rallying crowd scene, overly staged tracking shot, terrifically gory special effect, cornball montage sequence and cavernous plot hole. We celebrate them with open arms. Yeah, sometimes there are movies that are so bad they make you regret your own birth, but we'll steer you away from those with our handy cheeze grader rating system which rates not only the level of cheeziness in each movie, but also the usual cinematic criteria.
Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy your stay. If you're a moviemaker who would like your work reviewed on this site, be sure to visit our submissions and contact page for guidelines.
